The characters are preparing for a banquet by the powerful and feared nobleman Lord Claudius Giovanni. They have each received exclusive invitations toa lavish dinner far from their stations, and they assemble at a nearby inn to await a carrige to the Giovanni manse. The characters meet each other (Vega, Aisha, Ivan and Giacomo) Vega sticks close to Marian and lay low. Giacomo speeks with Paul, a young man eagering to tell his story, and starts a conversation with him. he was a crusader, left his life and travelled thousands of miles to die before the walls of Jerusalem, but instead he found himself badly injured while his fellow soldiers suffer great defeat before even reaching the walls of the holy city. Now he is almost crippeled but he knows how to use the sword, and can keep guard. He heard that Lord Giovanni is hiring soldiers to protect his manse and wants to apply. He almost begs Giacomo to say something good for him to his host. When Lothar Steward of Lord Giovanni, accompanied by two chain-mailed soldiers wearing the "G", arrive at the inn, he greats all the 13n characters personally holding their hands way too long and sometimes licks and inhales their hands. At this point the monk that was inside the inn starts cursing at Lothar and his devilish master Claudius, spitting at the floor every time he puts their name at his mouth. Aisha approaches a gypsy old lady situated at the far end of the fireplace.

Lothar glares at the monk "Get out!" he scowls.

-BrotherClement: your hell born wizardry cannot compel a man of God! (Clement shouts back) I expose your evil to all the world.

Lothar snorts derisively, and mutters, "I need no hell born wizardry, foul." he motions to his guards, who grub the monk and wrestle him to the ground.

As soon as the monk is out of the way, Lothar makes a toast. "I drink to all of you, some of the finest specimens it has ever been my pleasure to find. to your robust good health." he drains his glace and says, "be ready for the coach tomorrow afternoon. Roderigo will transport you. if you need anything inform him." he departs.

the night ends with the conversation of little Aisha and old Synovia. The follow mornig Vega and Marian tried to take a walk out in the forest but the Giovanni soldiers didn't allow them to go far.
